Don't Make Decisions Based On Sight

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
II Corinthians 5:7

There is a Bible principle called "walking by faith". Naturally, as humans, this is something we are not accustom to. It is easier to walk by sight and not by faith. If you are the kind of person that is prone to seek the path of least resistance and never want a struggle or challenge it will be very difficult for you to walk with God because He will call you do things and to circumstances that are not comfortable. But, if you want to be successful with God you will have to do the things He has called you to. Being successful with God doesn't just happen automatically. You become obedient because you decide that your will is not as important as His.

Christians sometimes tend to make assessments according to how it looks. If it looks good, then we think it is good and if it looks bad, we think it is bad. But the way things look should never be a barometer for judging how things are. Remember this statement: Sight is completely unreliable.

II Corinthians 4:18 says the same thing: "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."

Here is a second instance in which we are admonished to not look at things that are seen. There will be times in life when things look like they're going really good when in reality they aren't and same thing for when sometimes things look very bad, but they may not be. For instance, it may look like the company you work for is doing very well but there may be something coming in a year that you can't see, but God can.

Isaiah the 11th chapter verse 3 says, "And He will delight in the fear of the Lord, and He will not judge by what His eyes see, nor make a decision by what His ears hear." Did you notice it says "He will not judge by what His eyes see, nor make a decision by what His ears hear"? This is totally the opposite of how most Christians live their lives. If you go by what you see or what it sounds like then it will be impossible for you to remain steady.

When you are making decisions or assessing situations, go by what the Spirit is saying not what circumstances look like. Everybody that was ever pleasing to God walked by faith.
