Love & Faith

Hebrews 5:13 - For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.

It's not an insult to acknowledge that we are children in the things of Righteousness. It just means that we are new to it and we all start knowing nothing. And just like a baby we have to be taught from the time we are young; and, we start off with milk. Nobody puts a t-bone steak in front of a baby and says now eat this. Babies need something very easy to eat.

Hebrews 5:14 - But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

There is no need to apologize for being ignorant in the things of the Lord because we all start that way, but you don't want to stay that way. Notice this verse says, "because of practice". Practice.

Now, Paul begins to list the foundational, basic teachings of Jesus and if you don't like anything in this list then you don't like the basics, the fundamental things about Jesus.

Hebrews 6:1 - Therefore leaving the elementary (foundational, basic) teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works...

Your dead works are not going to get you to Heaven. You either are forgiven or you don't get there. All of us go to Heaven on the basis of God forgiving us; then we turn around and exercise that same forgiveness towards everybody we meet no matter what they do you. That's a big "no matter what" because that includes everything that anyone has ever done or ever will do to you. The Bible is very clear that if you don't forgive others their transgressions, God will not forgive you yours.

Hebrews 6:1 - ...and of faith toward God,

God does everything for us on the basis of us believing Him. If you believe that Jesus is your Savior, He will save you. If you believe Jesus is your Healer, He will heal you. If you believe He is your Provider, He will provide for you. He promises these things, but nothing happens just because He wants it to; you have to exercise faith for it.

Hebrews 6:2 - of instruction about washings (the Greek says baptisms) and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.

Everything listed here is fundamental teaching of God. The laying on of hands is listed here as basic and it's one method that God will use to help you. If a church doesn't do this then it doesn't do the basics. Mark's gospel the 16th chapter and the 17th & 18th verses say, "in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." If these things are right, then you have no business letting them go. Notice this verse says you will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. This verse works if you will believe it.

I have a friend who was at one of my meetings in Phoenix. He had West Nile Virus and almost died. The power of the Holy Spirit was extraordinarily strong at this meeting and I laid hands on him and that virus left his system. Now, he had to stand in faith because those symptoms would come and try to talk him right back into accepting that sickness and foregoing his healing. But he just stood his ground and claimed his healing. If you say it didn't work and you're not healed then that's what you'll have. You're just saying what you believe and as long as you believe it, you'll have it. Mark 11 gives us a lesson on faith and love.

Mark 11:22-26 - ..."Have faith in God. 23 Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. 25 Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. 26 [But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions."]

No one gets to Heaven without forgiving. I know it hurts, but you have to just let it go. The love of God has been poured out in our hearts so that when they are so hateful and so bad, we can still love them.
